Update for November 25, 2016

We’re launching a new module in リピート today: Review.

We had a many requests from users to be able to review cards without being tested on them. The way that we build our tests made sure that you actually could recall or recognize the words, but wasn’t the most conducive to learning new words.

And since we’re planning on vocabulary beyond the GENKI textbooks, we figured we needed to build a way to let you review and learn the words before testing you on them. (We’re very sorry for the delay for that launch, we realized we had to build this first.)

Just click the new “Review Cards” button in your dashboard to check it out.

How it works:

The way that we thought about designing this was to make it as quick and simple as possible, just like the way that we could physically handle flashcards.

It’s simple - just pick a deck that you want to go through - we currently give you the ability to pick what you’d like to review by chapter, by SRS level, and by newness (new cards are cards you haven’t been tested on yet.) We think building a ‘problem cards’ deck might be possible in the future, but we’ll have to figure out the algorithm for that first.

Then use the arrow keys quickly flip through the cards. Use the left and right arrow keys (or the buttons) to advance, and the up and down arrow keys (or click) to flip the card.

We hope this will be a helpful way for you to quickly review and learn vocabulary.

Things to Look Forward to:

Now that we’ve built the review module, we can start adding new vocabulary. We’re currently working hard to clean up vocabulary data for the top 5000 frequency words from Routledge’s dictionary. We’re still aiming to add 1000 words every two weeks.
